When guests arrived at the Cascadia Hotel on November 8th, they felt that this event wasn’t just another networking gathering. It was something special. The music and elegant décor created a warm energy in the room. Sip & Speak: The Golden Hour set the stage for an afternoon of genuine connection. It fostered confidence and conversation.
Hosted by Samantha J. Best, media personality and Confidence & Communication Coach, the event brought together industry professionals, diplomats, global voices and emerging leaders. It provided an experience that blended insight, inspiration, and community.
Setting the Stage for Confidence

With his signature charm and wit, Jason Williams welcomed the audience. He invited them to settle in for what he called “an afternoon of golden energy.” His light-hearted banter was engaging. His reflective anecdotes encouraged everyone to “read the room.” This was a recurring theme that carried throughout the event.
The concept of The Golden Hour, Samantha explained, was both symbolic and personal. Her seven-year-old daughter Brooklynn’s love for the K-pop song Golden inspired her. It served as a reminder that confidence often begins early. Confidence starts when we are fearless enough to express ourselves freely.
Interactive Coaching: Turning Nerves Into Power

In true Sip & Speak fashion, the event moved from observation to participation. Three audience members found colored cards beneath their seats. It was a surprise invitation to join Samantha on stage for live coaching.
What happened next delighted everyone in the room. Though each participant admitted to being nervous, their natural poise and authenticity shone through. They spoke with heart. They performed on the spot. They reminded everyone that confidence isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being there and real.
Samantha offered gentle coaching after each performance, giving quick, practical tips that made an immediate difference. She demonstrated microphone technique — how to hold it at the right distance for warmth and clarity. She shared how to engage the audience by “transferring your energy to the back of the room.” This ensures even those in the last row feel connected.
The exercise was equal parts teaching and transformation. By the end, the audience wasn’t just watching growth — they were feeling it. The room erupted in applause, many nodding as if reliving their own moments of stage fright and self-doubt.
Leaders and Changemakers Share the Stage
The event’s strength lay in its diversity of voices. His Excellency Michael Callan, High Commissioner for Canada to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, shared professional insights. He talked confidence and presence. He spoke about the courage to show up.
Ambassador Álvaro Enrique Sánchez Cordero of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela spoke passionately. He emphasized seizing every opportunity to “speak up and use your voice.”
Meanwhile, The Honourable Khadija Ameen, Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, offered heartfelt praise for the initiative. She encouraged that the lessons from Sip & Speak be delivered to youth throughout Trinidad and Tobago. This underscores the importance of teaching confidence early in life.
The Fireside Chat: The Power of Presence

The afternoon’s signature Fireside Chat centered on one powerful theme: The Power of Presence.
Panelists Gregg Mannette, Vice President of Sales at Guardian Life of the Caribbean, and Michelle Des Étages, CEO of Renaissance Energy Limited, joined Samantha for a candid discussion. They talked about leadership and authenticity. They also discussed the courage to communicate with compassion.
Gregg shared how true leadership is about earning trust through authenticity, not commanding attention. Michelle added that her greatest lessons as a leader came not from strategy. They came from listening with empathy and conviction.
Together, the trio painted a picture of leadership grounded not in authority, but in connection.
“Presence isn’t perfection,” Samantha reflected. “It’s choosing to be fully here — honest, grounded, and real.”
Diplomatic Voices Show Their Support

Adding to the afternoon’s distinguished atmosphere, several members of the diplomatic corps and the United Nations Development Programme joined the gathering, reflecting the event’s growing regional and international resonance.
His Excellency William Bush, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia, was among the guests in attendance. His Excellency Diomedes Carles, Ambassador of the Republic of Panama, also attended. His Excellency Hernán Núñez Montenegro, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, was there as well. Additionally, His Excellency Víctor Hugo Morales Meléndez, Ambassador of the United Mexican States and Mr. Ugo Blanco, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), attended too.
Their participation lent a spirit of global connection to the evening. It underscored Sip & Speak’s ability to unite professionals, leaders, and changemakers from across cultures. They engaged in one shared conversation about confidence, communication, and leadership.
Music, Mood, and Memorable Moments
Between moments of deep reflection came bursts of music and artistry. Pannist Adaiah Ramjattan delivered a performance filled with grace and youthful talent, earning tremendous applause. Later, Adaiah’s younger sister, violinist Ariella closed the formal program with a stirring, soulful performance. Her notes weaved emotion and elegance through the room. This created the perfect golden finale.

As the formal program came to a close, the energy in the room was still radiant. Laughter, applause, and excitement blended into one golden mood. Before the networking session began, Samantha took a moment to celebrate a few standout guests. She acknowledged them with the Sip & Speak Awards. These awards recognized those who truly embodied the spirit of the evening.

The awards concluded with a lively raffle draw. Guests won exciting door prizes courtesy of our sponsors. These included giveaways from bmobile. With each prize announcement, Samantha kept the atmosphere light and joyful, teasing the crowd and celebrating each winner with flair.
Finally, Samantha returned to the stage for her heartfelt Vote of Thanks. She expressed appreciation to every sponsor, partner, friend and attendee. Their support made Sip & Speak: The Golden Hour such a success. Her closing message was “Every voice has value.” It resonated deeply. Guests were inspired to carry that confidence into their own lives and work.
As the music rose and cocktails began to flow, guests lingered long after. They connected, laughed, and took photos beneath the glowing Samantha Wall. It is a fitting symbol of what Sip & Speak represents: light, warmth, and the courage to shine.
The Movement Continues

In the days after the event, social media was abuzz with gratitude and reflections. Attendees described the afternoon as empowering and refreshingly authentic.
For Samantha, this response reaffirms the mission behind Sip & Speak. The goal is to help individuals and organizations build confidence, presence, and communication skills that transcend the stage.
“The sooner we help others find their voice, the sooner we can build a culture of leaders. These leaders communicate with clarity and compassion.” Samantha says.
There are plans to expand the Sip & Speak experience to corporate teams, schools, and regional audiences. This movement is a shining example of what happens when purpose and presence meet.
